A 271 km long river. Originates from the mountain region north of Ljungdalen just past the border to the province of Jämtland. Flows towards the Southeast through Ljungdalen in Härjedalen, Åsarne in Jämtland, Ånge in Medelpad and flows out into the Bottenhavet sea just south of Sundsvall at Kvissleby.

The river holds populations of perch, pike, grayling, sea running trout, burbot, trout, salmon, whitefish, trout.
